Whitsunday Whitehaven Lookout
Whitehaven Lookout Walk
A visit to the Whitsundays is not complete without a photo or ten from Hill Inlet Lookout (on the Whitehaven Lookout walk). Be captivated by the watercolour painting that is the aquamarine waters and the brilliant sands of Whitehaven Beach swirling together below and creating a forever-changing view. This is arguably the best view in Australia! Even better in person than the pictures you will see in all the brochures and tour guides for the Whitsundays.
In August 2008 the new extended lookout opened to the public. The Queensland National Parks have constructed a new timber viewing platform that arguably has the best view in Australia.
It is a few hundred metres above sea level and boasts what is quite literally the best view in the entire Whitsundays. Just a gentle easy 15 minute walk up natural bush track will find you at the destination that so many people rave about. The view does actually stop you in your tracks, its just absolutely breathtaking. You have to experience this for yourself to really soak in the beauty of the Whitsundays. What you can see is the full view up the peaceful Hill Inlet - a stunning inlet were tidal movements shift acres of pure white sand to create a fusion of beautiful azure blues.
Whilst viewing the inlet your eyes are also swept towards the 7 kilometres of stunning white silica sands. Be comfortable that you may walk away, smiling and agreeing with the locals that is one of the worlds finest views.
Access is only by boat with most vessels choosing to anchor in Tongue Bay and enjoying the pretty bush walk up the northern face of Whitsunday Island.
